prayer cornerThis month our prayer is the Act of Contrition. As we enter the season of Lent, it is a good discipline to acknowledge our sins. Why? Because sin is the reason why Jesus suffered and died. Sin separates us from God and eternal happiness with him in heaven after we die. In our culture today, we have placed so much emphasis on our own self-esteem that we can forget our dignity comes from God and we owe him everything. That is not to say that we should disregard the accomplishments we make by his grace, just that we need to acknowledge He is the source of our gifts and apologize from our heart when we ignore or disobey God.
Here is a VIDEO (add link) that not only will teach the words of the Act of Contrition but the meaning of the prayer. After praying along with the video, press the "Let's Talk" button below to discuss this question together. 2nd-8th graders: Take this QUIZ and see if you know this prayer by heart now.
