prayer corner

This month we’re learning The Prayer to the Holy Spirit.  Before the Holy Spirit came to the Apostles, they were scared to death that they would be facing the same horrible death that Jesus, their Master, had endured. They were hiding behind closed doors hoping not to be discovered.  But that all changed when the Holy Spirit descended upon them, just as Jesus had promised. They were filled with the gifts of Wisdom, Understanding, Knowledge, Right Judgment, Courage, Piety, and Wonder and Awe and began to do amazing things.

When we are baptized, we receive these same gifts. And at Confirmation we receive an outpouring of these gifts to go into the world and take up our mission for Christ. Praying The Prayer to the Holy Spirit helps us remember that He is with us and will come to our assistance whenever we need help.

In the video below, the Corona, Petrovic, and Weber families will help you learn the prayer. After praying along with the video, click the "Let's Talk" button to discuss this question together.

Virtue of the month: HOPE

“For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare, not for woe! Plans to give you a future full of hope.”

“But now Christ has been raised from the dead…For since death came through a human being, the resurrection of the dead came also through a human being.  For just as in Adam all die, so too in Christ shall all be brought to life.”
